To configure Redmine for SSO, install and set up the Redmine OmniAuth SAML plugin and configure settings on the server hosting Redmine. For details, see Configure Redmine in the Admin Portal.Ĭonfigure the Redmine application for single sign-on. Once the application settings are configured, complete the user account mapping and assign the application to one or more roles. In the Admin Portal, add the application and configure application settings. Prepare for Redmine single sign-on (see Redmine requirements for SSO). The following is an overview of the steps required to configure the Redmine Web application for single sign-on (SSO) via SAML. This isn't a comprehensive review but my observations.Redmine offers both IdP-initiated SAML SSO (for SSO access through the CyberArk Identity User Portal) and SP-initiated SAML SSO (for SSO access directly through the Redmine web application). Also need to try backup and restore but should be pretty straightforward (backup dir and sql). Will spend some more time with kanboard to see how analytics and tasks work out but I like it more than redmine for me because interface requires less clicks and drilling down to configure. I git cloned dark theme pressed F5 and it was on.īackend is sqlite by default but can be mariadb or postgress. Many plugins which you can either enable (not sure if this has been disabled for security) in app or just go to plugins dir on server and git clone them. Then unzip and copy to /var/Site is snappy on cheap 5$ 1GB RAM VPS. Overall installation is very straightforward, install prerequisites, documentation for Centos 7 is missing php-json which I figured out by googling. Nuked Restya droplet, installed kanboard on Centos 8 and did letsencrypt. 6h later I get emailed by their dude asking me if need any help with installing, configuring.ĭecided to try kanboard. Latest version is same as in Digital Ocean marketplace. Need to register with email for download. I went to download page thinking maybe version in Digital Ocean marketplace was outdated. When I logged in from Chrome tasks created in Firefox showed up. Plugins seem to be paid (mind you this was hosted on DO). When I proceeded to create tasks in Firefox tasks would not show up. Then I proceeded to see if there is one on DO marketplace. You can see public projects of other users online, so there is discoverability. Namely you need to drill down to get to Kanban. Spent some time in it but didn't like you don't get straight to your dashboard which is the most important element.

If however you need lots of customization, then Redmine is worth checking out. With plugin - as I was using it, I spent almost all time in Agile board. Agile helps with Kanban board where you just move tasks between columns. Redmine has many features to configure and in order to manage projects you need to configure many things. Only issue was that version of Agile wasn't compatible with latest release but support from Agile plugin was very responsive and helpful and they sent me link for beta. Overall redmine works without problems, was easy to install. Then I installed the free Agile plugin which has kanban board and burndown tasks. I'm trying out different solutions for task/project management for myself.įirst I set up redmine on Ubuntu VM in ESX.
